Ricky Martin - Scandal or No?

Say it ain't so, Ricky! Yes, I admit. When Ricky Martin first hit the scene, I fell for the little Latin bundle. For those who don't already know...our latin lover FINALLY revealed his sexual preference..... Ricky Martin is gay. Even though I had a wittle crush on the Puerto Rican cutie, I have to say that I wasn't completely shocked. I mean "Shake your bon bon"!? Show me a straight guy who would ever let those words leave his mouth, honestly. When asked why he waited so long to publicize his homosexuality, he replied that he didn't want his sexuality to negatively affect his career. HIS CAREER!? What's the last you heard of him besides that he has twin surrogate sons? I haven't heard a note from him, but hey - that was his decision. I do, however, support that he came out. Even though homosexuality has become more common, it is still terrifying and difficult to come out and face all the different reactions of those around you.  So, go Ricky! Now shake your bon bon because you're living la vida loca and I don't care. Haha, I had to write a sentence with three of my favorite songs by him : ),, xoxo S<3

What is good hair?

WHAT IS GOOD HAIR? Today, I watched Chris Rock's documentary called "Good Hair". It really got me to thinking..what really is good hair? I mean some people who have curly and thick hair believe good hair is straight and voluptious hair. I have naturally straight and thick hair, but I always wished I had curly hair. We're never really happy with our hair. In the movie, Chris Rock talked about individual topics such as Relaxers, Weaves, and so on. When he was focused on perms or relaxers, he asked women when they had recieved their first ones. I was really surprised when people said they had theirs at 3 years old. Technically, I had my first relaxer at 5 years old for a wedding, but then 6 years later I started getting them regularly. Relaxers --for those who don't know-- are creams applied to hair to make hair longer, fuller, and easier to manage. Relaxers are actually Sodium Hydroxide which is a very dangerous chemical but Black females will go to whatever links to have their hair done. Chris also talked about weaves...I'm an active member in the Weave Women of the World, haha. I do currently have a weave on, and I love having one. It gives me versatility, that I don't have with my regular hair - I can curl it and style it however I want. I can have brown hair, black hair or even a combination. But let's get back to the main idea...WHAT REALLY IS GOOD HAIR? Is there even a such thing? I may think one person's hair is good hair and they may think mine is good hair. I think that as African American females we need to stop looking at what society has made you believe is "good" or "beautiful" and just work with what was given to you. But I will leave you with a quote from the film. "If your hair is relaxed, white people are relaxed. If your hair is nappy, they ain't happy." xoxo S♥

K.Fed back on radar.

Meet K.Fed. For those who don't know, this is Kevin Federline known as Britney Spears' and Shar Jackson's ex. To put it simply, K.Fed pretty much left Shar for Britney, then left Britney for his "rap career". How well did that work out? I've never heard a single track of his album. I'd have to say on my list, K.Fed is pretty much top douche :). Now, K wasn't even on my mind until his beautiful face popped up on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club. K.Feddy weighed in at 232lb. My, Oh My how the mighty have fallen? Naturally, Brit has her breakdown..the whole shaved head incident and I guess K. Feddy packed on the LBz. I'm not going to joke about his weight but..how are you a dancer and let yourself get to that point? I give him his brownie points for admitting that he was lazy when asked.."what happened?" Now, poor ol' Shar Jackson is also on the show struggling with her weight for good reason...but with K. Fed there, will she be able to hold it together? I sure hope so. She deserves to get her life together and she needs to be strong for her child, since we all know K.Fed isn't exactly pulling his weight..*no pun intended. Good luck Shar! My best wishes! XOXO S♥

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day ♥ A holiday for lovers and a time where singles find themselves feeling more vulnerable and lonely then they would on any other normal day. I'm NOT a cynic, but I'm not a HUGE fan of the holiday. Heart shaped candie boxes, couples holding hands, excessively nauseating amounts of PDA...just unnecessary. Though, it can be seen negatively - Valentine's Day also gives hope. There are millions of people everyday who lose faith in humanity & love...I even find myself occassionally wondering if maybe love is just make believe. V-Day reminds us that love does exist - whether it's the love of a bestfriend, a sister or brother, or even a significant other. Love is everywhere. On February 12th, the Valentine's Day movie of the season - Valentine's Day was released. In it are celebrities such as - Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Gardner, Jamie Foxx, Taylor Lautner, Ashton Kutcher and so many more. At first, I assumed that since there are so many A-List celebrities in it that the plot would have more to be desired but it was perfect. I'm not going to give away details but I truly enjoyed it. I laughed, I 'aww'ed, and I enjoyed every last minute of it.

Bad Girls Club, Feb. 09, 2010.

 On February 9th at 10pm, I turned on The Bad Girls Club Season 4.

THIS EPISODE...similar to the rest was jam-packed with drama and fighting. Amber was excited to see her boyfriend of 3 years. Amber had previously mentioned that her boyfriend was black, so that made me anxious to see what he looked like. I was half expecting some extreme Bryant Gumbell guy but not to my surprise either it ended up being a mix of Ludacris and Lil Jon. But love is love, you don't really choose who you love<3. But before LudaJon came to visit, the girls went clubbing...Amber found herself dancing on some guy who bought her a few shots ...(-_-). enough said. To sum it all up > Guy has "fiancee". > Fiancee gets jealous > brawl ensues. Of course our little socialite, Natalie was the first one to jump in. Knees were scraped, weaves were snatched, so your usual...but everyone wanted to know where Florina was? Oh Flo, Flo,Flo...where did you go? Now we all know there were some "issues" and misunderstandings between the girls of the house and Flo. Everyone knows that whether you're on good terms with someone or not, if a fight breaks out...you forget the everything, and defend them. Flo missed that lesson and she let Amber defend herself. The girls ended up driving poor Flo psycho...she made the decision to leave the house (smart move,btw.) but not before losing her marbles and getting attacked by water balloons. Flo is headed back to Staten Island, NY...wonder who they'll pick on now.. ;)
